back to top@adele oh! This is pretty cool
@adele why put XMPP on a different subdomain, why don't have both email and XMPP use the same `you@message.casa`?
@pixelschubsi because you may want to give only one of them to your contact
@adele but isn't the other one implied? If I know one I can easily find the other.
@pixelschubsi only if you know the service message.casa
@adele which has a public website whose domain is directly in the address and explains the relation between the two. You might be able to trick some bad AIs with those, but no humans.
@pixelschubsi true, but you will be able to publish your xmpp address without a bot get your email address
@adele probably only true in the short term, that is until some spammer bots are updated to understand this relation. Also publishing your XMPP address still means you will get spam, just that the spam will be on XMPP rather than email...
@adele interesting project! Thank you for your efforts to #takebacktheinternet !
@adele Cool initiative!
I'm curious about how are you going to avoid massive/automatic registration and abuse.
@release_candidate I plan to open registration with invite code (or url). Users will get some of them to invite their relatives
»Malicious Site Blocked!
Symantec Endpoint Protection blocked this website:
We are all lost …
@dnkrupinski have you some detail about the reason?
It's part of Symantec Endpoint Protection: Plugin for Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.
„Browser Security by Symantec Endpoint Security Division of Broadcom.“
@adele You can open a private window where this plugin is not active. Than you are able to open the site.
@dnkrupinski I understand, but I would like to know why this site has been categorised this way. The plugin doesn't provide some explanation ?
@adele Nope.
@dnkrupinski OK.
I've done much verification about the mail server... but not the website
@adele this is cool! Which server software are you using for XMPP?
@adele sorry I didn't read properly, it's Prosody 🙏
I'm curious, did you made comparisons between server softwares and found out it's the more smollweb one?
@pikario absolutely no comparison, I have installed the xmpp server I know and use for a decade.
It satisfies all my needs and is easy to set up.
