An old M28 series locomotive, first produced in 1955 by the Hungarian Wagon and Machine Works in Győr. Mostly they serviced industrial railways, moving loads and freight.
This one worked at a now abandoned thermal power plant in Hungary. Now it sits silent and forgotten inside an old rail shed.

Do you know of any movement promoting minimal, utilitarian writing, stripping everything down to what the recipient actually needs?
Asking because I see many people writing a rough draft, asking an AI to polish it, bloat it, and the recipient uses another AI to summarize it. Two humans, zero actual communication.
There's #plainlanguage and #Crocker 's Rules, but nothing focused specifically on cutting the fluff from everyday writing.

ugh, I guess my #GotoSocial does not handle videos very well. But I'm not firing up Peertube for that, and can't upload to yt back :) Whats the solution?
A lot of messaging systems try to reinvent the email system but many (signal, matrix, xmpp) took over one key traditional design which we actually dropped while retaining SMTP/IMAP compatibility: server-controlled identities.
With #chatmail user identities are cryptographic and reside on end user devices only. Servers are only message relays and have no control over identities or chats, only perform fast message routing. Does anyone know if Dasung's eink monitors work out of the box on #OpenBSD ? (or, can be gotten working with some config tweaks?)
Experiences with other BSDs or other brands of eink monitor are also welcome. I've heard enough about these being tempermental at times on other operating systems that I'm a bit wary.

Just remembered the occasion when my Youngest child, then aged 8, asked if petrol was vegan.
Their logic was that if it was from the crushed up remains of animals and plants, then it shouldn't be. When a vegan told them that it was ok for a vegan to use petrol they asked how long something had to be dead for before it stopped counting as animal matter.
I would just like to state for the record that the original question was posed before I had drunk any coffee at all and was what instigated the "no questions before coffee" rule.
