back to top@adele what TLD would you like to crowdfund? 🤓
@kleisli whatever, I suppose it will depend on the org coordinating the funding.
could be .gnu for example or more generic such as .dom
it doesn't matter
@bortzmeyer @kleisli Yes, I see that procedure is a bit complex :-/

@adele Many gTLD are owned by non-US companies (often chinese but not always). See for instance .sncf (french railways) or .ovh (french internet hoster). But, yes, they have to sign an US contract with a US corporation.
@bortzmeyer OK, I agree, but these TLDs are often not open to registrations or too much linked to these private entities.
I know that I'm looking to the perfect solution.
@adele I understand that this is a complicated process, but why not do it anyway? There must be interest in creating a donation-driven small web/non-profit/FLOSS org—that'd be awesome 🤔
@shaedrich
I have not the required skills to drive a such project. But, I agree, it would be awesome. Even if this TLD would depend on U.S. ICANN organization.
@adele Me neither, unfortunately. Highly unlikely, but fingers crossed: Maybe, such a person (or a group thereof) emerges some time in the future.
