With #SmolFedi 1.2.0 it is possible to use OOB copy/paste login mode for old browsers.

compatibility with #dillo

Dillo blocks cookies by default, which prevents sessions from persisting. Allow cookies for your SmolFedi domain:

echo "yourdomain.example ACCEPT" >> ~/.dillo/cookiesrc

Replace yourdomain.example with the hostname of your SmolFedi instance. Restart Dillo after editing the file.

For instances that cannot be reached directly from the Dillo machine (e.g. when the old computer has no modern TLS support), use the copy/paste mode on the login page: check the box, copy the authorization URL shown, open it in a capable browser to get a code, then paste the code back in Dillo.

Hello from smolfedi on #NetSurf!!

This is the lightest browser I could get working (had auth problems with every other #smol browser I tried).

It kinda lacks keyboard navigation badly (NetSurf, that is), but I'm still liking #SmolFedi a lot, and am looking forward to trying it on my sixteen-year-old #OpenBSD #Thinkpad. ;)

Maybe the excellent #Dillo browser dev can poke at it? ;) @dillo

The Fediverse deserves a dumb graphical client

I love the Fediverse. I have been on it for years, and it remains the only social network where I actually enjoy spending time. No algorithmic feed pushing outrage, no dark patterns, no surveillance capitalism. Just people talking to each other over an open protocol.

But every time I wanted to recommend it to someone, I ran into the same wall: the clients are heavy. Mastodon's web interface ships megabytes of JavaScript. Elk, Phanpy, Ivory, beautiful apps, but they require a modern browser, a fast connection, and a device manufactured in the last five years ...

"The Orion capsule carrying the Artemis II astronauts will be travelling at more than 11 km/s (40,000 km/h) when it reaches Earth’s atmosphere. This is 40 times faster than a passenger jet travels."

Wishing the Artemis II crew a safe return home!

#SmolFedi 1.0.7 manages user defined Lists of profiles. A new entry in the menu for each list. And possibility to add/remove a profile in lists.

(at the moment, you can only use existing lists, nothing to create or delete one)

I think #SmolFedi will be my preferred #Fediverse client on my smartphone and my old tablet. Very lightweight, fast, useful. I wonder why I should use something else.

Let me know which missing feature would be a must have.

(if it had poll editor, I’d propose some :-D )

Anthropic's latest #AI model identifies thousands of 0-day #vulnerabilities in every major operating system and web browser. #Claude Mythos Preview sparks race to fix critical bugs, some unpatched for decades.

The difference here is that Claude Mythos is also able to create a working exploit 72% of the time, while previous models had a really hard time with it.

This makes me worry and wonder how we will prevent a #cybersecurity apocalypse.

Today we’re remembering when ACB’s Michael Babcock and Kolby Garrison attended the 2026 CSUN Assistive Technology Conference. While there, they had the opportunity to explore a range of innovative assistive technologies, including the latest devices from Orbit Research.

Pictured are Kolby (left) and Michael (right) trying out the Optima, an all-in-one Braille laptop computer. Other braille devices are arranged on the table at the Orbit booth.
