The dumbest thing anyone can do (including "expert communicators") is to publish anything first, or only, on ANY social media:

@box464 😆 I once sat near a young woman on a flight with a big sized smartphone with full brightness on… it was impossible to miss what she was doing. The amount of actions it took to add specific stickers, animations and text (with certain fonts) to an Instagram Story convinced me then and there that the argument « the Fediverse is too difficult for normies » is just a lazy, tired old trope.
If there’s a will, there’s a way.
Hey everyone! I'm looking to get #FediHired as a (senior) #RustLang developer! Remote preferred!
I have 13 years of software engineering experience, 5 of which with Rust!
If your team needs some additional people power, feel free to DM me and I'd love to have a talk or send my resume!
I'm well versed in most areas, from low level system/ #Linux stuff, all the way to high abstraction full stack web stuff!
✨ Boosts appreciated! ✨

@adele yay!
Is anybody here using #SquirrelMail as webmail?
It is a PHP webmail without javascript.
I would like to have your feedback
@adele well said... this is a problem that no one seems to have the will to address (I'm referring to our governements).
It's a shame that the internet has become a battlefield, but we will stand firm and we will take it back.
WCAG 2.2 is now ISO/IEC 40500:2025. The formal recognition enables more countries to formally adopt WCAG 2.2. ISO/IEC 40500:2025 is free from the ISO website. Supporting resources and translations are free from the W3C website. You can read more and share our press release https://www.w3.org/press-releases/2025/wcag22-iso-pas/
I don't want to react to the AWS breakdown (even if this toot looks like that).
Telling that you should use a different service, your own server, or whatever to avoid a breakdown is stupid. All solutions are subject to breakdown and AWS isn't the worst.
Yesterday's problem just shows the hegemony of AWS (and other Big Tech actors), even for non-American structures. It should just make us aware that a unilateral decision by the United States could harm any country without military intervention.
It's time to dig up a post from the beginning of the year:

For the incoming message.casa mailbox hosting (see https://social.pollux.casa/@adele/statuses/01K7J5JX8JHSPNE8RMPQT9J8RT ), I plan to use a different character for the "plus addressing".
pseudo+amazon@message.casa is too easy to break by email address scrappers. They remove the + and the following before selling your address.
I would like to use a different character, but this one could not be present in the main pseudo to avoid naming conflict.
first.lastname-amazon@message.casa if I set the dash as separator (but no dash in the pseudo).
first-lastname.amazon@message.casa if I set the dot as separator (but no dot in the pseudo)
I don't know which is the best option 🤔
Not everyone can or should self-host, but there is a lot of middle ground between self-hosting and putting everything on #AWS.
Federated protocols like #XMPP, #ActivityPub, and #SMTP give you choice.
I'd like recommendations for a Europe-based dynamic DNS provider, please!
I've been with freedns.afraid.org for about eight years, and they've been rock-solid and good value at $60 per year, but it's time to cut my remaining ties with US-based services.
Please boost for reach!
Hello hello, here's bugfix release v0.20.1 of #GoToSocial, aka More Sinister Sloth 😈😈
https://codeberg.org/superseriousbusiness/gotosocial/releases/tag/v0.20.1
If you're updating to this version from v0.20.0, it's a very easy update with no db migrations.
If you're updating to this version from a version before v0.20.0, please follow the update instructions from v0.20.0, but replace 0.20.0 with 0.20.1 throughout. Be aware that the update to 0.20.x contains some potentially very long migrations. Please do read the notes carefully!
Thanks for all the bug reports that helped us find and fix stuff <3
Release highlights
- Fix an issue causing duplicate posts to appear in timelines.
- Fix RSS format issue.
- Speed up some queries a little bit (lists in particular, but home timeline a little too).
- Return more sensible HTTP codes from fedi endpoints when things happen that aren't actually errors.
- Add API scope for managing emojis.
