You don't need to use weird spellings or algospeak for any topics on the Fediverse ("unalived", "seggs" etc). There is no automated moderation or algorithm on here, moderation happens entirely through human beings and posts are shown in chronological order.

In fact it's better that you use the correct spellings for difficult topics so that people with genuine traumas related to them can filter them more easily.

Part of your job as a senior is to tell your juniors about your fuckups. The embarrassing cringe reckless and lazy bullshit that you did when you were new, and the various times you brought down Prod. We ALL did it sometime. And then tell them: the moment you realized you fucked up, I know, the impulse is to try and cover it up, but don't do it. Come to the seniors you trust, and they'll help you unfuck it, and fight management tooth and claw like mamma and pappa bears to defend you from any shitheads in management. Because that's what our seniors did to us.

Readeck 0.19 is out!
It adds a new mosaic view, lets you share bookmarks by email, brings back the good old SQLite driver and fixes some bugs.

One translation (Portuguese from Portugal) didn't make it to this release but I'll publish a patch release once it reaches the 90% completion.

If you've been using application passwords, you'll have to migrate to API tokens but it's a one time annoyance.

I want a free society that works for everyone but especially those in need, not just a few billionaires. I want a life full of magic and wonder at the natural world. Tired of "free" QR code generators that are full of ads and trackers, that share your data, and that want to sell you something? Me too. Here's my act of resistance: I made a one-page site that works entirely in your browser to generate a simple QR code. And that's all it does. You can download the HTML page and run it locally, even. Read the source; nothing up my sleeves. Just a QR code.

My offer to you -- I will continue to pay for the domain name and web hosting for it, myself. If you find it valuable, you can pay it back by creating your own useful thing for the world and releasing it for free. Let's take back the friendly web, one vexingly-monetized utility at a time!

The pollux.casa server sometimes experiences load peaks due to AI training crawlers and search engines.

pollux.casa allows hosted Gemini capsules to be accessible through both https and gemini protocols. Of course, it's on the https side that the crawlers come into play.

Since the main reason for having a #capsule on pollux.casa is to offer it on the #smolnet #gemini, I'm going to take the liberty of installing a crawler blocker on the https version.

Really struggling to be on Mastodon because everyone I follow is (very lovely and brilliant) very right on, very left wing, and very morally outraged. Obviously with very good cause, but I really miss the silliness of old school twitter when it wasn't just an echo chamber of doom every time I logged on. Who can I follow that just toots memes and daft shit to make me smile? Or has a lovely account that isn't frequently tweeting politics? Would love recommendations to try balance my feed out ❤️
