I don't want to react to the AWS breakdown (even if this toot looks like that).
Telling that you should use a different service, your own server, or whatever to avoid a breakdown is stupid. All solutions are subject to breakdown and AWS isn't the worst.

Yesterday's problem just shows the hegemony of AWS (and other Big Tech actors), even for non-American structures. It should just make us aware that a unilateral decision by the United States could harm any country without military intervention.

For the incoming message.casa mailbox hosting (see https://social.pollux.casa/@adele/statuses/01K7J5JX8JHSPNE8RMPQT9J8RT ), I plan to use a different character for the "plus addressing".

pseudo+amazon@message.casa is too easy to break by email address scrappers. They remove the + and the following before selling your address.

I would like to use a different character, but this one could not be present in the main pseudo to avoid naming conflict.

first.lastname-amazon@message.casa if I set the dash as separator (but no dash in the pseudo).

Is it a good idea to setup a mail server for smol mailboxes and to open registration for free with invitation links for example?
The goal would be to reduce volume of emails, as #smolweb reduces the size of websites.

Something smol like:

• one common domain name (something in .casa TLD)
• in a French datacenter
• 128 Mb of storage
• 10 Mb max per email (sent or received)
• 10 recipient addresses per email (can't be used for mailing)
• limited sent per hour (no spam)
• IMAP / POP3 / SMTP (over TLS)
• Webmail (for desktop and mobile)
• autodeleted if full for several months (to free space for newcomers)

Dealing with Google or Apple to publish an app on their stores seems to be a such a loss of energy, that I will never try to create an app for #iOS or #Android.
In my job, I've written a Progressive Web App (for professional usage of my customers), and it is a good way to avoid apps stores.
